Framerate Mismatch / "the framerate of your match list is"

Hi -

I’m doing some conforms using text EDLs dragged into the match zone.

Everything is 24FPS (pt session, matchbox “target rate” etc)

but when I go to run the conform, I get a dialogue stating: “Framerate Mismatch / your reconform rate is set to 24 / the framerate of your match list is 23.976 / do you want to change the seting to that of your match list? leaving it like this will probably cause rounding issues” buttons: Change Reconform Rate / Ignore.

Strange because … match list does not have a rate? No video, AAF, guides or anything else loaded in MB, just the match EDL dragged into the gorgeous green matchzone.

I can’t test/confirm output because i’m doing a media-less conform for a colleague who’s on an airplane…

help / helf?

EDLS don’t have a framerate.
So importing it to Matchbox usually doesn’t trigger any “change framerate” alert unless it’s obvious that the EDL is some other rate.
24 and 23.98 look the same of course.

But matchbox has a strictly defined internal framerate. So you probably just need to set that rate in the prefs before importing the EDL.

Ah!

I thought framerate was “target framerate” set in the conform window, but yes… now I see “base framerate” in prefs…

I’m always going between 24 and 23.98, but very unusual to have no video files loaded… and I think that forces the baserate change on load.

Set it and now everything working as expected.

thx!

yeah, basically any file you import has a framerate and MB switches the base framerate or lets you know about it. EDLs are from a time before framerates were important.
