Getting Audio to Play?

Hi -

Is there a trick to getting Matchbox to play audio from .MOV files in the sequence? Do I need to load a WAV guide track instead?

Additionally - is Matchbox able to play audio from inside AAFs? (what!? I doubt it but what if.)

Hi,
Not currently possible to play audio direct from the MOV.
We expected someone would eventually ask for this, but I guess most people already have GTs or would extract them in Pro Tools right away.

One option we have considered is offering the audio extraction to a file, inside Matchbox.

Well that solves the issue! I’ll bring in a .wav guide track.

I have struggled with this for years and finally found the right search query to find this answer! I’m ashamed to think of how much time I could’ve saved in the past doing reconforms.

well, all of the above has now been achieved in Matchbox 2 - it can link AAF clips to their files, and also offers to extract audio from your movie files - either stereo or split-mono.
