PTSL will not be used

I’m getting an error message that reads

"PTSL WILL NOT BE USED

Your Pro Tools version is incompatible with the Matchbox ‘Pro tools Scripting’ feature. We’ll use the standard reconform method instead.

This is my first time using Matchbox. So its probably user error. but, here’s my system specs.

MacPro RACK 2019
16-core Xeon
Radeon Pro W5700X
224GB 2933MHz DDR4
Sonoma 14.3.1

Pro Tools 2024.3.0
AVID MTRX

Matchbox v1.6.0

Avid fundamentally changed their “Pro Tools Scripting” feature, any there’s no way Matchbox can support the old and the new versions at the same time.
The solution is to turn off that feature in Matchbox preferences, or just ignore the warning.

Yeah, I wish Avid played nicer with 3rd party. I disabled it and everything worked great. A few quirky things that I’m not sure if its user error or bugs. But, I’ll keep an eye more closely on my next project and probably ask some more questions then. Great Tool! Thanks

Justin - curious if you could talk to the Pro Tools dev team what you’d request, or ask of them regarding scripting… (feel free to answer publicly or privately)

Yeah, they’re actually very helpful. The problem here is that they fundamentally changed the way apps like MB are supposed to connect to Pro Tools. This means we can either support the most recent PT releases, or all the versions previous. We cannot support both.

The good news is that the Scripting Library features MB uses are pretty minor, and only speed it up a little and improve reliability a little. MB will just fall back to using the old reconform approach which has been fine for many years.

MBv2 will be able to use the newer version of the Pro Tools Scripting API to massively improve the reconform process. But it will not be able to work with older PT versions. It will probably require the absolute latest PT version at time of release… or it’ll fall back to the tried-and-true keyboard macro approach we’ve always had.

Thanks for explaining all that. Probably the future is bright… once we get there

We’re on the cutting edge. Hence all the blood.
