I used to make a shot track clip group region and have Matchbox cut that. Now it always creates a new folder and a new clip group shot track. Is that just how it works now? Even in the older videos they have the cuts happening on a reference audio file. Am I missing something or is this just the way it works now?
That’s how it works. Make a convincing case for doing it the other way and it might get added.
I may not be using Matchbox how a lot of people are typically using it. I use it during a mix as I’m getting new picture cuts in. So I have a full mix in protools going when I’m using it. I don’t mind so much that it creates its own new shot clip track. My complaint is all the markers it generates. I don’t want them in my session. I thought there was a preference in the settings of Matchbox but I unchecked anything that seemed to create a marker and there are still markers being generated. Is there a way to at least not have markers being created in ProTools? thank you.
Ah I see. I would have thought the markers being on their own dedicated track was OK - they are separate and not cluttering the main marker ruler (unless you send them there using the extra MB commands)
And also, being on their own track you can very easily delete them.
Right. It is a good feature but I use all those lanes. I guess it would just be nice to have a preference to turn them off if that’s possible. Honestly it would just be better if ProTools had more flexibility but we all know PT needs a lot of basic improvements still.

The markers are on their own track - not on the main rulers.
Right. I was getting mixed up with them being in the Memory Locations window. I have to filter them out because I use that window for other things. I figured it out. I just had to understand how it was working differently than the old version and with the new version of PT. thanks for the help.
EDIT - nevermind, this was user error on my part. All is well now, sorry about that
piggybacking on this, although I am having a different issue.
I’m running Matchbox 2.2.6 and PT 2025.6.0 and when I’m attempting to make a shot track from a reference video the result is just an empty track with no groups, clips or markers created. I see the timecodes being entered in the edit selection window but nothings actually happening. I’m not touching the mouse or keyboard during the process and I’ve tried both with the ProTools API on and off. I have also tried restarting each program and a full reboot. Am I something wrong? I’ve been a Matchbox user for years but only recently upgraded to version 2.
This is weird - you’re not the first recently to complain of this.
Are you sure you’re asking for Shot Track from Selected Video Ref?
And are you selecting the video ref?
If that’s not it, can you make it happen then send me the latest log file at [youruser]/Library/Logs/Matchbox.
Sorry, not sure if you saw my edit to the original post but it’s all good now. It was a dumb error on my part, I thought I had spotted the reference video to the correct start time in Matchbox but it turned out not to be the case. Not enough coffee this morning it seems.
