I have two questions.
First, is there a way to play back from any position using a selector, like in a typical DAW, rather than per clip?
I’d like to use this when I want to play back from the end of the cut preceding a matched cut, or from the middle of a long cut.
Second, is it possible to play back the matched movie while tracking it to the new movie?
Currently, once the matched point is passed, the old movie continues playing with its original editing intact.
A project I’m working on turned out to be much more complex than expected, and without Matchbox, it would have been a nightmare.
I’m extremely grateful for this app.
CTRl-Drag for scrubbing the playhead.
In the Matches view, the middle third scrubs both together, the top scrubs the OLD and the bottom scrubs the new. You see the icon change so you know where those scrub zones are.
You can also “tab” to next/previous edit point using CMD-Arrows Left/Right.
And there’s a toggle button for “Play as reconformed” which makes the OLD timeline jump to the correct position as per match ranges.
The issue is that normal mouse click-drag is used to select clips or make a box selection. So we need to do scrubbing with a modifier, and CTRL-Drag is familiar to Pro Tools users.
There are times I regret this decision and maybe box-select should have used the modifier, but changing now would annoy existing users.
